Creative careers are often defined by visibility, but Jesse Dorian has shaped his work through patience, focus, and a clear preference for substance over noise. Born in New Braunfels, Texas, Dorian has established himself as an American screenwriter, filmmaker, musician, and multimedia artist whose work quietly circulates within independent film communities. Rather than chasing mainstream recognition upfront, he has committed himself to psychological storytelling that explores uncertainty, inner conflict, and moral ambiguity across thriller, science fiction, and psychological horror.

The environment in which Dorian grew up played a formative role in shaping his perspective. His father, Jesse Treviño, was a prominent San Antonio artist and realistic painter, whose public artworks became lasting cultural fixtures. One of his most recognized pieces, The Spirit of Healing, remains on display at Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. While this artistic presence provided early exposure to creative expression, Dorian’s childhood was largely guided by his mother following his parents’ divorce during his early years. That upbringing fostered independence and emotional awareness, elements that later surfaced as recurring themes in his writing.

Dorian’s interest in film developed early and with unusual seriousness. At the age of fifteen, he completed the part-time Filmmaking for Teens program at Vancouver Film School in Vancouver, British Columbia. The experience introduced him to disciplined storytelling and visual structure at a professional level. After returning to Texas, he studied Radio, Television, and Film along with Psychology at Austin Community College. Although he did not complete a formal degree, his academic focus on psychology became particularly influential, shaping his approach to character motivation, perception, and emotional behavior.

Instead of pursuing immediate production opportunities, Dorian concentrated on writing original feature length screenplays that explored the psychological edges of genre storytelling. His work does not rely on familiar narrative formulas or traditional heroic arcs. Since 2022, his scripts have circulated widely through international independent film festival competitions, gaining recognition for their depth and restraint. His protagonists often exist in morally uncertain territory, inviting audiences to engage with complexity rather than resolution.

Dorian’s screenplay catalog includes Donavan Emery, The Android and Himself, Sven, As Scared As You, The Four Of Us Are Dying, Morituriosis, She’s Never Coming Back, and A Close Divide. Each script stands on its own while sharing a consistent interest in identity, alienation, and self destructive behavior. His stories frequently examine how individuals respond to isolation, fear, and internal contradiction. In addition to feature length work, Dorian has written a television pilot titled Sly, demonstrating his ability to apply the same psychological focus to episodic storytelling.

Film festival recognition has played a central role in bringing attention to Dorian’s writing. As Scared As You won Best Screenplay at the Las Vegas Independent Film Festival, along with a clean sweep at the Oniros Film Awards, winning all five of its nominated categories, including Best Original Script, Best Feature Script, and Best Horror Script. The Four Of Us Are Dying received Best Feature Screenplay awards at the Utah Film Festival and the New York Film Awards, along with a Gold Remi Award at WorldFest Houston. Donavan Emery, The Android and Himself earned Best Screenplay honors at the Bristol Independent Film Festival, the Digital Griffix Film Awards, and the Los Angeles Film Awards. Sven was awarded Best Science Fiction Short Format Screenplay at the Philip K Dick Science Fiction Film Festival and won Best Feature Script at the Miami Screenplay Awards. Morituriosis received Best Horror Screenplay at the Los Angeles Film Awards. In 2025, Sly earned multiple top honors, including Best TV Pilot Screenplay at the Vail Film Festival and Best Television Script at the Los Angeles Film Awards. She’s Never Coming Back also received several Best Script awards at the Oniros Film Awards across original, drama, and romance categories.

Beyond screenwriting, Dorian has explored other creative forms that align with his thematic interests. In 2017, he launched an industrial goth-influenced music project titled Imitate Invertebrate. The release of the EP double single Deviant and Just Die Already marked his entry into music distribution across major streaming platforms. The project reflects a sonic extension of the psychological tension and darker emotional tones found in his written work.

In 2022, Dorian founded LostScorpion, an independent creative brand that brought together apparel design, film production, and music under a single identity. The brand served as an outlet for multidisciplinary experimentation. While the e-commerce component was temporarily suspended in 2025, LostScorpion continues to represent Dorian’s broader creative vision beyond screenwriting alone.

Dorian has also participated in independent film production as a supporter and financial backer. He received executive producer credits on documentary projects, including both the fourth and fifth installments of In Search of Darkness, which focuses on horror cinema from the 1990s, as well as The Thing Expanded. He was also credited with a special thanks for his support of the film The Apprentice, released in 2024. These contributions reflect an ongoing engagement with film culture beyond authorship.

Now based in Los Angeles, California, Dorian continues to focus on film and music development. He has spoken publicly about mental health challenges and their influence on his creative process, acknowledging how personal experience informs his understanding of psychological realism. Known for keeping several rescue cats, he maintains a quiet personal life that contrasts with the intensity of his creative themes. Writing in the margins of genre, Jesse Dorian continues to build a career defined by introspection, discipline, and a deep respect for story driven ambiguity.
